Dexters Surf Shop is regarded as the premier place to learn to surf in the North. For well over a decade the shop itself has overlooked the best swell on the North East Coast. Open all year, we are proud to be one of only a handful of UK based surf schools to offer walk in adaptive surfing.
Our Surfing England accredited school provides beginner and intermediate surf, sup, kayak, and bodyboard lessons for all ages and abilities. We are the chosen provider for local schools, colleges, councils, scouts & guides, charities, and many more!
Our rental equipment is the best in the area and available to hire all year round including overnight, and to South Bay. As we are the only surf shop in Scarborough to be positioned on the beachfront itself our customers always get much more time in the water without having to worry about carrying their gear back and forth.
We run water-sports clubs daily, along with sup & kayak tours which are a must!
Due to demand in January 2025 & 2026 the shop had a major refurb and now offers private changing rooms both up and downstairs, toilets, free lockers, and multiple seating areas. The store has new and used surfboards for sale, plus a vast range of accessories and clothing from leading brands.
